Mynjun (feat. ex-Opeth, ex-Katatonia members)

Mynjun is a Swedish progressive death-metal band with David Isberg, Opeth's first vocalist. They also have members formerly in Swedish bands Katatonia and Grave.

They are currently unsigned, but their myspace reveals that they play an and interesting blend of styles reminiscent of older Opeth.

I think the songs they have made so far are excellent and might be of interest to those who enjoy Opeth's darker and more esoteric material. It's interesting to hear what Isberg is doing today, his musical interests and his clear influence on Opeth in their early stages. See what you think.

Definitely reminiscent of Opeth (for obvious reasons). The second track sounds very Mayh or Still Life influenced.

They need a different vocalist and the drummer needs to get a bit more original. Pretty cool melodies though.

Yeh, this is pretty cool. I'd say this is more fitting of the title 'progressive death metal' than Opeth ever has been.

Agreed that the vocals do get just a tad bit monotonous though.
