Here's a great band I've recently discovered. They've actually been active for almost a decade, but it was only with their new disc The Second Philosophy that I discovered them. Unlike most other Lifeforce Records artists, this band differs vastly from the more hardcore stuff in that it is a strong blend of Floydian guitar layers with modern day Porcupine Tree sound exercises and Opethian guitar and vocal elements. The singer shifts between guttural death metal growls with occasional clean-sung harmonies and there are a good many of acoustic passages with nice, jazzy cymbals ringing in the background and whatnot.
