NAMM

Be careful man, there are some nasty respirtory illnesses going around.

Yeah these chemtrails are really making my eyes burn. It's Obama launching chemical warfare getting us all sick so he can take away our guns easier and make us all gay tree hugging communists!

Well I'm getting too old and out of shape for trade shows, but I'll be happy if NAMM is my last one. Was a lot of fun, although I missed Jeff Loomis TWICE (Schecter and EMG booths) and I missed Chris Broderick and Dave Lombardo. On the plus side I met Curran Murphy, who was with Nevermore for a while. He's with a company that makes 7 string guitars. Also saw Kerry King at his autograph session. He's always had a rep for being fat but he's looking to be in great shape. Much thinner than me, that's for sure.

At NAMM it was announced that Adrian Belew will be the new guitarist for Nine Inch Nails and NIN will tour again. This is awesome since King Crimson and NIN are 2 of my favorite bands. Although, I am guessing playing for Trent Reznor you will probably not have much freedom as he did in Crimson. Trent's still probably easier to get along with than Fripp I'd think. Does anyoen er even know who I am talking about or should we just get back to talking about Whitesnake and Warrant?

Back in '92 my old roomate was auditioning for 9 Inch Nails. Trent was holding secret auditions in the city. It came down to him and this other guy and Trent chose the other guy because he had more the goth look while my roomate had more the hesher look. Bummer!

Well you know Tommy Aldridge is back in Whitesnake, right?

Some NAMM pics of mine. Court, Nita, could you use 9 strings?

Yeah namm is ruined by all these people basically star hounding. I talk to many vendors and they find this annoying. It bores me too - basically the same guitar center on steroids ever year. Now, sometimes i notice interesting products, but honestly, there are few new innovations ever in the music industry. The simple staple of guitar + amp is never goign away. Stuff made in the early 80s is still valid today. Can't say that about the computer industry :)

But it's always cool to meet friends u havent' seen in eons.

I totally agree. I get hounded all the time myself. Most don't recognize me now since I wear a hat and / or a 40's suit...really throws them off. If I really want to up the ante, I will wear a fake moustache like that dude in the old 80's movie EDDIE AND THE CRUISERS.

I've test driven a 9 string before. I remember handing it back to its owner and saying "This is a different instrument than the one I know how to play."

That being said, the Ibanez prototype is a pretty amazing machine :) The quilt top is even more gorgeous in person. Everyone at NAMM was talking about it!
