Natural Chorus ?

So the other day i was double tracking a lead melody for a demo i was working on recorded one then said wait my guitars probably out of tune. So i checked it was a bit off here and there. so i tuned it back up and play with the slightly off tuned guitar and holy crap! it sounded really awesome wide and a live. So i then deleted both and re recorded one tuned perfect then one tune perfect with the frequency of the tuner at like 438 in stead of standard (440) and it sounded really cool i think im going to start doing this for all lead melodies i double track. I don't think it would work/ sound as good on rhythm guitars. So my question is..

Has anybody stumbled upon this before?, tried it.. or was it just a fluke on that one riff i was playing ?

It's the same thing as duplicating a take and pitch shifting it up/down a few cents. Though I suspect it to sound even wider with the double tracking differences. So yeah, awesome idea!
