Arent you thinking of LEDs using less power? I've never heard of LCD being energy efficient. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just remember reading somewhere that LCD and Plasma TVs use waaaayyy more energy than a CRT.
*shrugs*

We had serious heat and electricity problems (brownouts, computer restarts, etc) with CRTs and they were fixed when the school finally forked out for the LCDs.

Considerably lower power usage.

17 inch LCD requires around 35 watts

19 inch LCD requires around 45 watts

Higher power usage, more than 200% to an LCD of equivalent size.

17 inch CRT requires around 90 watts

19 inch CRT requires around 110 watts

one is a magic crystal that twists to various degrees with minimal voltage applied, and then a little lamp behind it. to shine through onto one of the 3 colours...

The other is an ELECTRON GUY FIRING AWAY LINE FOR LINE at 60/70/90/whatever herz.

yeah, I found some data last night that show LCD and CRT power consumption in watts per square inch of screen size are about the same. Plasmas, however, in some cases, are twice as much.
