Need a new watch?

mainstream is just a word,
opeth are not mainstream for the sake of it, they may sell alot of albums, but they are still doing what they´ve always done... i don´t think mikael would ever start to make musik for the fans, and when he does we will notice.

Lmao at the Opeth watch. If you bought one and someone asked you the time, you could watch it and say "in 3 seconds, The sun sets over blackwater paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrghhhhhhhhkhkhk!!!!!!!"

Being mainstream bothers me not, I listen to plenty of mainstream music (the majority in fact. It is the generic, merchandise tie ins that bother me, sufficed to see this is the kind of thing cradle of filth would do.

There again it's not my place to judge, and I'm sure it's the record companies not the band who sanction stuff like this. Either way it once again raises old question about whether or not signing to a major label was a good choice in terms of artistic intergrity.

Point very much taken, truth is i'm just thinking out loud. i don't really believe in what I said before (and whether or not I do matters very little, Opeth's merch is Opeth's choice), i'm not really sure where I stand on the subject of Opeth's supposed "selling out". I'm really jsut making the point that this is one it could be percieved.

Well, we can't really say that this infringes on their artistic integrity...they'll keep putting out the music they want to put out....and Roadrunner having the history it does with underground/brutal music (not talking about a majority of their current roster) isn't going to tell them to cut their songs short....Opeth being Opeth is making the label money, so why would they want them to change?

Anyway, they probably didn't choose to be merchandised to hell but that comes with being on a major label.

We do have to consider that this is their career and they do have to make some kind of living. If it's a few more ducats in Opeth's pockets, then that's great.
