yo
looking for a nice sounding sample library, kinda like east west but under 400€ if possible.....
need strings, piano, brass mainly....

east west platinum is too pricey....any options/alternatives?

shoot

Eastwest has many different packages. I think they're Gold version is only $395. I'm actually a composer and although none are better than other's I personally prefer eastwest. Other options would be VSL, Project Sam, Motu, Best service, ect. I normally wouldn't suggest Garritan Personal Orchestra because their brass sections are not that good but their strings and pianos sound awesome. Just go on the websites and listen to the demos. But yeah, I highly recommend Eastwest gold

the problem about EW is that I'm too fucking stupid to even find a package I can buy.

there are like a million different versions, play, complete, buttplug etc...
then there's silver, gold, platinum....
I just wanna buy a version that works....I don't wanna find out later that I just bought some upgrade/engine/addon/whatever.

I wanna doubleclick on some dmg file...everything installs, shows up in PT as an RTAS instrument and I can use it.....seems like I'm to retarded to find that....damn, I can't even find their homepage, just some gayass aussi page that's essentially just a screenshot of some other page

Wow interesting, I have never actually heard of Albion before and I usually know all of them. Sounds very good from listening to the demos. At this point though it's pretty stupid to say one sounds more realistic than another one. They all just sound different, for example, Albion sounded darker than Eastwest. All these libraries almost all have the same articulations, the only difference is the way they sampled them

East West Gold Complete is quite cheap and comes with a decent piano for a mix. You only need Platinum if you want three different mic positions at 24bit. Gold has all the same articulations.

WICHSER!!!
I just bought Gold for 350!....
damn you! :)

link me to the platinum/350 bundle and I'll jump on it in a heartbeat.........
I hope there's piano in the gold pack...16 bits only:(...anyways...not complaining about the 350 for gold, not a bad deal.....knowing you bought platinum for as much hurst though...wanker!

Gold is fine for your purpose, I've used it for years without complaints, and I don't miss it not being 24bit and not having three mic positions. It comes with a Steinway in the percussion section, and I actually used it for the piano in the stuff I sent you.

Sorry, this was about a year ago....just thought they might do this again since its about the same time again.

Garritan is nowhere near the quality of Eastwest and has nowhere near the same number of articulations. I do find Garritan useful though for my Sibelius 6 mockups.

True, but it's only $150. I've also found that the solo violins have a nice earthy bow sound that is very organic.

I did investigate EW samples at one point but that crazy website makes it almost impossible to know what to buy.

The strings and piano are the only things good about Garritan. They're brass and winds blow ass. And their articulations (or lack of it) sucks.
