Need help asap

hey i have an xlr cable with no connectors as it was just choped. does it matt which end the male is on and which end the female is on?

I could be wrong but i dont think it matters being its the same wires running from point A to point B...just make sure that your connecting the right wires to the right prongs on the connector

Doesn't matter which way, but the pins must be connected:
1 = ground
2 = hot
3 = cold
