Here's some dumb little riffs I made up a second ago: http://depositfiles.com/files/oibpxzetd

It's not refined or anything, but that's generally how my mixes turn out (ish). There are probably a ton of things wrong, but here's what I more or less used:

guitars are hi-z in -> TSS -> SoloC -> 8505 -> s-preshigh (doubletracked)

I didn't really do much with the EQ; the guitars sound pretty meh to me, though they are in E standard, which will usually not sound terribly brutal for death metalish stuff.

The drums are addictive drums. The overheads sound like shit, which I just realized. I've heard a lot of really great drum sounds from Superior 2.0 on here, but the whole program is sort of beyond me. I have it and the first expansion, but I can't ever get it to sound as good as your guys' do.

Bass is Ampeg SVX. Just got it so I haven't had time to screw around with it at all.

Anyway, I've tried a lot of signal chains that have been posted on here and my stuff never really seems to sound as good. Any beginner advice for getting a better (for the most part guitar) tone?
