hey guys
iv been using the free massey plug in for tape saturation (tapehead)
and the brainworx filter (cleansweep)

i need to buy better plugins that do the same justice
tape saturator and a filter
does waves have any tape saturation plug ins?

any help would be great

thanks!

filter: emi tg12414

eq: flux epure ii

tape saturation: cranesong phoenix (if you don't use protools, check out the nomad factory e-tubetape warmer or any urs saturation plugins).

waves doesn't make a tape saturation plugin however i personally know two programmers that have worked for waves for about 3 years... and they do contract work for urs and roger nichols... these dudes make awesome plugins.

nah
every tape/saturation plugin (or any plugin speaking for any matter )
has different voices and different settings

you use a tape plugin untill you get a warm, round more punchy sound to whatever your applying it to.

EDIT: but, the best part in mixing is, that there is no right or wrong answer.

If you're looking for an excellent saturation plug, look no further than SoundToys Decapitator. It completely destroys pretty much everything else out there as far as Pro Tools saturation plugs go (and I own most of them).

True. Decapitator can go from warm, barely noticeable saturation to brutal, ridiculous thrashing, and never manages to sound bad in the process.

Just to be clear...tapehead is a great plugin. Just because the demo is free doesn't mean you'll necessarily beat it by spending more. That said, the SoundToys bundles are great in a number of ways and are a worthwhile investment.
