Nest - Trail Of The Unwary

I didn't know they had a new one coming out. I'll have to look into this. Woodsmoke is great.

And I wonder how this will turn out:

Nest will participate on a tribute album to the doom masters Skepticism. We have made our own interpretation of 'The Gallant Crow' from their first album Stormcrowfleet. This is a high honour for us, since Skepticism is one of A.T.'s all-time favourite bands. The release date of the album is the 4th of June 2007. Check this link for more info and preview samples : Entering The Levitation: a tribute to Skepticism

Glad to see someone else talking about Nest. I usually refrain because no one gives a fuck! The album is fantastic... an entirely worthy step.

Woodsmoke was ok but every song totally sounded the same. Is that not the case so much anymore?

I agree if we're talking about Woodsmoke and Hidden Stream,
bu when speaking about the new stuff, it becomes more like
October Falls >= Nest
or maybe even Nest >= OF
The new album is a great improvement, much more complex than the older ones. I'm not saying it's some masterpiece, but I think it's one of the best surprises of the year, at least a 7/10 album for me.

I still don't have the latest Nest-album, I was hoping to get the limited 2cd-edition.

A bit off topic, but new acoustic EP (Sarastus) by October Falls was recorded few weeks ago, no idea if and when it's going to be released. However, the next full-lenght of metal-material will be recorded this year. Actually it was mostly recorded already, but everything will be re-recorded. If things goes as planned, the drums will be recorded soon at H.Sorvali's studio and M.Tarvonen will be the one who's drumming them.

whaaaaaaaaaat i would give anything to work with these guys. Tarvonen is one of my favorite metal drummers. that's so fantastic.

I've enjoyed the Nest I've heard but come on, it's seriously sub-par when compared to things like Tenhi or even October Falls.

I do not quite agree with Nest being even compared to the two others, as their sound on "Woodsmoke" is quite unique, much more shamanic and atmospheric than anything Tenhi have ever tried save maybe on "airut:kiwi". But I would agree that Tenhi are better nonetheless when speaking absolute musical value.

Anyway, I love Nest and will be sure to check the new one, thanks for the headstart.

I must say, that I had heard the older Moonsorrow-material and the latest one, but missed Verisäkeet (I was waiting for the vinyl that never came). I thought Tarvonen was a good drummer, who plays in time and sounds good.

Few weeks ago I checked Verisäkeet, so I could see what Tarvonen played there to get some ideas for drums and I must say, that the whole album is fucking awesome and I really enjoy the drumming, really great stuff! The recording-sessions will be on next month, before that, we'll meet on training-place and go through some ideas, I'm sure this will be great.

EDIT - Nest, Tenhi, OF - We all sound very different I think.

i agree, its stupid when people automatically compare nest to october falls all of a sudden. i dont see where that comes from.

Atmosphere, perhaps? Sure it's completely different music, but the certain 'feel' is quite similiar I think. I think you would agree that you can call it 'the forest music' ar something in this mood. And yeah, comparisons, especially in music are often really stupid, but it sometimes helps to imagine how the stuff sounds if you want to recommend it. It's just much easier to give some examples of groups that somewhat resemble the bands sound than to put their music into words. Of course the comparisons may turn totally missed, which I apologise for if someone felt offended :loco: ...
Seriously, October Falls pretty much rocks, but you could say that OF and Nest come from the same 'area in music'... Or not?
