New Amaranthe Album "Massive Addictive" out Oct. 21

Well, I guess the new Amaranthe is proof that there is a certain level of pop I will be able to deal with in my music, and beyond that, I get turned off. I can see why they did it, they have plenty of mainstream viability already and they're clearly going for the US market, it's just a little disappointing that I can't really get into the new stuff. Their set at ProgPower was one of my highlights of that year.

They set new standards for the term "pop metal" with their new album.

Nothing's shocking no more in metal music, but they'll certainly could raise some discussion.

Saw Amaranthe open for Within Temptation Thursday at Royal Oak and they performed Trinity and Drop Dead Cynical live. Anyone that thinks that they sound like Pop live is kidding themselves. It was still heavy even with the EDM elements.

I was a little worried going into this album.

After one listen, I can tell you those worries were misplaced. This album is pretty damn good and should not disappoint fans of their last two.
