New Amaranthe Album "Massive Addictive" out Oct. 21

Terrible band. Surprised to see a post about them in this forum.

LOL. They kicked ass at Prog Power doof. They also kicked ass on tour when I saw them a few weeks ago. The guitarist Olof's other band is playing Prog Power next year too. Move along

They got a huge ovation opening for WT in Worcester on the last night of the tour. The crowd was singing the chorus to Drop Dead Cynical..which surprised me since its so new
You mean "Worchester"? ;)

I was there too and yes the crowd loved them. I personally don't like the music so I just enjoyed the vibe of all the excited people around me. It was also cool when they came out on the balcony to cheer on WT.

Saw Amaranthe open for Within Temptation Thursday at Royal Oak and they performed Trinity and Drop Dead Cynical live. Anyone that thinks that they sound like Pop live is kidding themselves. It was still heavy even with the EDM elements.

I am sorry but almost 99,9% of the bands sounds heavier on a live performance.

I did not listend to the new album but I don´t have high expectations after the second album.

I love Elise´s voice but cant stand all the "pose" the male singer(clean vocal) does.

I don't think that many people were singing along to Drop Dead Cynical (I was one of them though:Smokedev:) It was a really fun show, but AGAIN they only had one shirt design for sale (and perhaps a sticker). I was really hoping they'd have copies of the new album in tow.

the growler is more violent

Is it just me, or does he seem to rap the vocals? It actually fits Amaranthe's sound better, I think. Maybe the next step will be an actual rapper.:heh:

BTW, any announcements as to who the "Special guests" will be for Amaranthe's NA tour starting in just three days? Or does "special guests" just mean local bands at each stop?

After a couple listens, I do kind of like the new album. Still not a big fan of "Drop Dead Cynical", too much pop in there, even though that bouncy chorus plays well live. But the rest of the album is fairly solid, even though I'd consider it their poorest album so far. I'd like to start seeing them push some boundaries a little bit with their sound, they're in danger of running this thing into the ground if they keep up this pace of releasing new albums every 18 months that without changing the formula.

So I have a different perspective. Olof has a plan and its fitting into what they want to do and if a formulas works, why change it so soon? its only their 3rd release but its still be great to have 3 albums in 3 years and they are unique to their style. Amaranthe's popularity is growing daily. My favorite is the first self titled album but they all have something pretty unique to offer and their live show is off the hook. Anyways I wish I was able to see one of their headlining shows they are currently doing.

I listened to the album two times so far, it's very good. I get what they were going for, it works.

It's poppier AND heavier at the same time. The two extremes are working better here than on previous releases. It also feels a little more mature to me, especially with the slower songs, Exhale is OUTSTANDING.

As a former critic of this band, to the point of some butthurt megafan calling one of the bandmembers themselves on here to debate against my opinion - I have to finally admit that I'm really digging this new record. They hit their stride, and I'm not sure if it's a combination of putting Elize at the forefront of the music (which makes sense because she's the strongest singer of the 3), and toning down the "schlager" for a more classic pop angle, or both, but I'm really digging this one. Not mindblowing, but a very fun, accomplished, and catchy record.

Okay, we all know Elize is attractive, but that Digital World video takes it to a whole new level. :D

Cool song. Still can't explain why I like this band...............

My goodness, I need to see them again.

Tomorrow night in Baltimore (while 90% of their fanbase is at the Nightwish show in Silver Spring).

And yes, that video...
