If you like Opeth you might like Novum Organum. They've disbanded but they still have a myspace up. Also check out Farmakon.

Okay. Seems to be mostly the larger, more popular groups - just getting into metal.

So. This is a mix of classic albums everyone should own and stuff I picked based on the stuff you said you like.

Soilwork - A Predator's Portrait, Stabbing The Drama
At The Gates - The Red In The Sky Is Ours, Slaughter Of The Soul
Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness, Blessed Are The Sick, Covenant

Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse, Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk
Orphaned Land - Mabool
Kalmah - The Black Waltz
Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine, Burning Bridges

All of these ones are absolutely great. Listen to this guy.

Scar Symmetry - Symmetric in Design, Pitch Black Progress.

Kinda melodic death with low growls, screams, and amazing clean vocals.
Solos are great too.

If you like COB, check out Norther. I personally think Death Unlimited is their best album.

Other good melodic metal is Borknagar and Amorphis.

Good Borknagar albums: The Olden Domain, The Archaic Course, Quintessence, Empiricism
Good Amorphis albums: Tales From the Thousand Lakes, Elegy, Eclipse, Silent Waters (many will also say The Karelian Isthmus, which is a good album; it's more straight line death metal, whereas after that album they went in a more melodic direction)
