New Bloodbound

Thus far I'm digging the samples I've heard. Less in the vein of the previous disc but equally as cool. A lot more old school sounding (very Maiden/Dream Evil in vibe). Shame Urban is gone, but the Patrik Johansson sounds fantastic too. Enjoying a more old school mastering job too!

Funny you bring this up...for I just made mention of Bloodbounds Tabula Rosa in another thread- more so Urbans vocal performance! This is the Bloodbound that works...more original and highlites Urban who is fantastic of course! Unholy Cross is good stuff indeed...power metal done right. But it just seems like we've heard this done over and again and again and...

Patrik was the original singer...... or at least was the one who sang on the first release. Maybe it is a Metal Church thing for you then.

I have a hard time to understand the "No Urban, No Bloodbound" thing. I mean, at least, check out the new album, the new guy does an excellent job. I'd have loved to have Breed as vocalist, but he's gone, so the band had to go on.

Was it also: "No Ozzy, No Sabbath"? Dio and Martin proved this wrong.

"No Wayne, No Metal Church"? Howe proved it wrong.

"No Udo, No Accept"? Tornillo proved it all wrong too...

It's indeed an excellent album IMO. Johansson sings great on this. Sounds a bit less like Sammett also than on the Dawn Of Silence discs.

I find at many moments he sounds quite Dickinson-ish. The guy does a fantastic job filling some big shoes.

And according to Urban himself it's a bad record, so I don't have it. I got it into "Tabula Rasa" after Bryant and Vicious Robbie finale sold me on Tad Morose (with Urban of course).

It's a very personal thing. The examples you put are really good indeed, but to me sometimes a certain musician defines the band, Urban is such a musician for me (the reason now I'm gonna check again Pyramaze to see if this time clicks with me).

You are right. It was Urban, then the guy on "Book of the Dead" then Urban again, now this guy. I don't really care if it is Urban or not, as long as it sounds good. I love Urban's vocals.... don't get me wrong, but I am open to another singer.

I listened to the record a couple of times and for me the problem is not the new guy, he is quite good...it's the direction the band took. The band drifted away from the Tabula Rasa style and went back into traditional power metal. That was the key. And these songs aren't even as catchy as their debut with Urban. Again, it's just my personal taste, that's all. It just sounds like many power metal bands out there to me.
