They seem to get lots of hate on here, especially when people bring up Atheist, but I really like Focus and the new album is pretty great.

It's not that I hate Cynic, I think they have a lot of of potential & the musicians are great, but Focus just gets so bland after a few songs.

That being said, I have faith that the next album is going to to be much beter than the first. I think they've grown as musicians since then. I will refrain from getting the leak. I will wait til it comes out to buy it.

Album is simply amazing...it's not as heavy as Focus, but some of the stuff on there is just plain beautiful. Not a really long album either, which I only realized recently.

Yeah, I agree. They were way beyond potential with that album. Sure, bands can always improve, but Focus is better than most.

Personally, I'd be much happier to learn about a new Gordian Knot album. I'll take a new Cynic album though.

Cynic only had one album. It's been so long the band will probably have evolved a lot, I'm guessing. Gordian Knot is great though. Been back listening to them a bit lately. Also, Aghora is pretty cool too.

Going on how much I like Aghora I thought Æon Spoke would be great but I couldn't really get into it at all, not that it's bad.

It would have to be pure electro-acoustic noodling mixed with flanged voices and jazz drumming.

some parts are, most of the album is jazzy and post rockish though. with metal here and there
