I was wondering the same too, but then the vocal booth doesn't look too "acoustically advanced" or sophisticated so I doubt that the mics can deliver anything that fx-boxes can't deliver better.

But then again: I might be talking out of my ass

we are just using the sm7 through a 1073 and a distressor. we tried a bunch of mics...and as usual the sm7 just had it. its a great mic for the screamers...just has a bit more throat to me, if that mics sense. The other mics we tried were a telefunken elam 251, a neumann u47 tube, and a neumann u67 modified by stephen paul. It just goes to show that price does not always get you the sound you are lookin for. The other 3 mics we tried have a combined value of over $30k. YES over 30, not 3. The sm7 sells for what? 375 now? good news for those of us with limited cash!

and in terms of the drum mics...i'll post a pic of the setup and explain more later guys...there is plenty of time for discussion!

Awesome...The sm7 has caught on like wild fire for screamers. It has been a mic I "can not live without".

yea on my singer i tried a sm57 with mod (transformer taken out) and also a beta 58 and still thought they were a bit thin and needed some more meat!

Might have to go pick up a sm7 when i get some cash..Wish i could have a 1073 and a distressor but a sm7 will just have to do.

We havent started the mix yet, im currently mixing a lifeforce band called hell within. Our ssl computer is broken (imagine that) so im just kind of a sitting duck right now.

One of these days i'll get around to posting the whole drums setup in detail.

Heres a quick rundown. Dw 5 piece maple kit. 3 oh mics, 3 stereo rooms for options. Top and bottom on toms. Kik in and out, snare top and btm

Neve, focusrite isa 110s and api were used on the kit. More details soon.
