New DevilDriver...

FUCK YES, new stuff - TLKW has been on constant rotation in my car for a few weeks now, it's the ultimate driving music (especially when you drive a manual transmission :D) - to me they're the perfect blend of thrash and, I dunno, groove or something; I'm usually not a fan of that kinda stuff (I never liked Pantera, for example), but something about 'em just really makes me go nuts, I love how, well, driving it is, and relatively straightforward, and soooooooooooooo heavy. Thanks for posting dude!

Song is pretty promising, though I'm not sure how much I like Dez channeling Chuck Billy with the more perceptible pitch (the deep "screaming singing" thing) - sweet riffing though! (can't critique the production as I'm on laptop speakers atm)

One other thing I dig about these guys is that one or both of their guitarists are RIDICULOUSLY tight rhythm players; when everything except one guitar drops out after the intro to "Tirades of Truth," goddamn, that's almost Jon Schaffer status there!

we just played a show with them a couple weeks back and they were really, really good live. Guitarists were both tight. They used Randall RM100's and they sounded phenomenal. I've got GAS for one now, and I'm not really into Randalls.

Badass, I've been rockin' out to these guys since their self titled album came out, and every album kicks it up a notch. I agree with Marcus on the vox, but everything else is clutch. Can't wait for the new album.

..and I would also like to point out how Jon Schaffer has been Marcus' new reference for tight/speedy rhythm playing ever since I subjected him to listen to me play "Wolf" and "The Phantom Opera Ghost" relentlessly haha

Haha, yeah dude, you converted me without a doubt! (and to DD as well!) :D The guy has gotta have a Luke Skywalker-style prosthetic arm, I swear

Now that I'm listening on my monitors, I feel like it's lacking bass (guitar) - just feels a little empty in that range. And the snare is cool, but yeah, a bit too snappy for me, not enough pop. Oh well, just niggling complaints!

4 tracks of 5150

Dayum!

Nice. If Logan Mader did all of this (tracking and mixing), props to him. I was letdown by the last project of his I heard, Cavalera Conspiracy. Sounded huge, but the snare sounded like a simmons kit a la Def Leppard or something.

As for DD"s live amps...

The Randalls they had on stage did sound sooo killer, but nothing like a 5150 to my ears. They had a lot of low mids and was pretty smooth on the highs, but it had a throaty roar that was nice. Wish I knew what modules they were running live. The closest live tone I could comapre it to would be a Framus Cobra, but with smoother, less grainy highs.
