its trendy to like an amazing band? people in the black metal scene don't flock to bands because it's "cool" people like Deathspell omega because they are awesome.
it's ridiculous to say they are the "it" band because people on metal forums like them..
The new album sounds like a more straight forward version of blut aus nords' The Work Which Transforms God. Very good by that I mean.

Just so we are clear, i am not taking any sides in this argument.
That being said, i wouldn't be so quick to assume those in the black metal scene don't flock to bands because they are cool or trendy. The BM scene is just as prone as any other scene to hangers- on and trend hoppers.

mmm i must say Dso's my favorite band since the last 3-4 years so maybe my opinion doesn't count because i'm a fanboy, but i don't think i'm trendy because i listen to Infernal Battles lot more than Kenose actually, Exctinction of the Weak is just so great. Kenose is probably the album i like the least.
as for the new album.... it sounds great but it's so "apocalyptic" so far..... i can't judge it as of yet.

I'm not sure about that, I mean they are definitely similar in sound but DSO's riffs on the new one meander way, way more than the ones on that BAN album. And for that, I can already tell alot of the fans from the SMRC era will not like this album...
Well DSO is much easier to listen to. I just find both albums sound very much alike.

And the splits with Mutiilation and Moonblood. This period was easily DsO's best.
Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum, upon first impressions, fucking sucks. I can't envision this growing on me at all. 'The Shrine of Mad Laughter' is absolutely insufferable. I'm going to listen to 'Bestial Orgies' and forget everything post-SMRC was ever released.
