New Enslaved ep- download legally for free

Due to the ongoing conversation about corporate sponsorship, I just want to know if anyone has actually listened to this yet? It is freakin' excellent.

Next thing we'll see is Enslaved in a TV commercial for cars, racing against a bunch of urban-looking, hip-hop guinea-pigs...

As long as it's a good deal for the band, I don't see why not take advantage of the sponsorship.

Corporate Black Metal?!?

It's definitely a valid criticism. There are scores of bands in the underground metal scene, indie rock scene, etc who turn down huge opportunities to preserve their image.

However to me, this cooperation with Scion on the band's part is simply an opportunity for a willing act to get a free record out of it, and many acts would love that opportunity -- even from an artistic standpoint, what else does an artist want more than to create more art? It's a dream come true to get a no bullshit chance to make music and not owe a debt to it for even larger acts like Enslaved. Thus, it's not "corporate metal," it's actually a sign that the band truly loves to make music.

Perhaps Enslaved wouldn't need Toyota if their fans actually bought their records?

How so? I bought Aphotic last Tuesday and as far as I know KIA didn't bankroll it.

Enslaved's last album sold 1400 copies in its first week and that was without Scion backing it. I can't even find any sales data on November's Doom's last album. I can guarantee that it didn't sell that many copies in its first week, maybe not even total. You're grasping at straws and trying to be funny, but falling flat on your face.

So angry :lol::lol:

There is no apostrophe in NOVEMBERS DOOM. :)

I must say I am surprised Aeonic. I expected you to shitstorm over the idea of corporate sponsorship. $$$$$ makes things possible for any artist.
Why would anyone turn away risk free funding????

morals.

Depending on the bands ethics some may turn away free corporate sponsorship. While 99% would not there is that 1% DIY style that wouldnt.

But no matter, I'll just pretend that you DID raise a shitstorm, since I REALLY want to argue with someone about this! Hopefully I can at least win an argument with a non-existent opponent! Ok, here goes:

Fixed!

Anyhow, Scion seems to be doing a really good and subtle job with this. I honestly thought people were kidding about it being related to the automobile brand, even after visiting the page. I figured "Scion A/V" was just some new-music-industry startup that just happened to share the same name. Only after I went back and looked the second time did I notice the car company logo.

Now, if only I could find the time/interest to actually download and listen to this FREE thing from a band that I really like! I take the fact that I haven't yet done so as an indicator of the astonishing glut of music and other entertainment options clogging my intakes.

but you find time to post though. I kid, I kid. I am in the same boat. I have so much stuff to listen to plus watch that I will never catch up on stuff. It is like once I finish listening to a CD a bunch and file it away it seems like 5 more takes it place. I almost need a week away from everything to get caught up again.
