Hi all
I'm new to Symphony X and dont have any of their albumns yet but i have heard a few of their songs that i really like

For a new comer what albumn(s) would you recommend?, cheers

My favorites are V, Twilight in Olympus, and The Odyssey. Try any of those for starters!

I'd just get their 1st album, and then go backwards from the Odyssey.

I wouldn't reccomend the first SymX album to someone unless I wanted to turn them *off* to SymX. Rod Tyler doesn't exactly make people wanna stick around.

Definitely The Odyssey...then Divine Wings.

It depends. I introduced a friend to SX with the first songs of the first album and he LOVED it immediately.

I think there are 3 eras. One (SX and TDG), Two (TDWOT, TIO and V) and Three (Teh Odyssey). Let them hear 1 representative song from each era, and they'll have a good idea of what kind of record they want to start with, according to which song they liked most.

Check the main site, there are downloadable MP3s so you can get an idea of the style of each album.

Any newcomer should go out and buy The Odyssey and V cause its the only albums that are constantly in stock haha unless you don't mind waiting a few months to get Divine Wings.

The only Symphony X albums I have seen at Best Buy, which resently put Symphony X up on thier CD rack were Divine Wings, V, and The Odyssey...all of which you need to get...

Divine Wings of Tragedy or The Odyssey...They are the most user friendly for new comers, depending on how much of a musician or musican you arnt I would avoid V untill after...You'll enjoy it more if you get it l8ter on! So yeh, The Odyssey, Divine Wings of Tragedy...or to take the safe road, get Live on The Edge of Forever, this gives you some tidbits of all their albums...(well almost all lol!)

V was the first album I got and I loved it so saying that I would recommend anything from DWOT, V, or The Odyssey...just dont start with the Symphony X album...

I've never in my entire life sen V on a shelf at a cd store. Under Symphony X, all I ever see is 2 or 3 copies of the Odyssey, and a lone copy of DWoT or Twilight.

I'd recommend Divine Wings of Tragedy since it has the heaviest riffs and the best hooks.
