Any one else following this ?
I've been on the waiting list for 6 months and for the first time in that period
I am relieved I didn't get my unit yet ! There seems to have been a halt on manufacturing of the old units . Knowing my luck it won't be 'Axe Fx 2' and I will still be left scratching my balls  but at least I am not shitting it like I would have been if I had just bought it . Any guesses .. new hardware or software ?

I'm thinking it will be something cheaper maybe? A 'less features' unit maybe? I have no idea though.

I looked on the website and they tell you exactly what it is right there. It's just more amps and what not

Nevermind, I was looking at something different

Excited if it's a cheaper version that contains the amps+cabs, not really interested in the more nuts fx and routing options.

Agreed. I was blown away by the Axe-Fx when I heard it in person a few weeks ago, but no way I'm going to spend that much for a whole slew of things I would never use.

Would be nice for an FX-less unit. Hell they could go one step further and make a separate FX unit as well. That way you could get one or the other, and upgrade later.

Seems quite a few people think it will be a cheaper model with fewer bells and whistles , bad news for line 6 if it is . I personally think it will be both software for existing customers and a new piece of hardware of some sort . I asked the lady at G66 what happens to my order if it is a new high end product and she suggested we discuss this again after the announcement , she signed of with ;-)
, even more of a wind up !

I totally agree with you fellas and hope it is axe-fx jr. I would love the amp and cab sims, but would probably never use 90% of the effects. The only effect I need is delay.

Computing power does increase steadily through the years, so I don't think it would be too unreasonable (though unlikely) to assume it's a 'version 2' type product. If I were any amp manufacturer dealing with direct-in type tones, I'd be looking very heavily at customizing the impulse response technology, which was never designed to emulate cabinets, and to recreate that missing 3rd dimension would take a great degree more computing overhead.

I'm definitely interested though, whatever it is.

The TigerSHARC is still the fastest/most robust processor on the market from what I understand, oddly enough - there are some newer ones with more onboard features that can be done natively on the processor instead of being external (the TigerSHARC is purely for number crunching, nothing else), and that's what seems to be in the HD500, but I'm not sure if Cliff is going to use those. The newer chips cost 15% of what the TigerSHARC does, though, so that should mean savings for us.

I also do believe we should start getting products proposing the 3rd dimension in the impulse system. I hope it's what it's about.

I don't really see what is the problem with it. Is it the whole way impulses are generated with today's technologies making it too CPU inefficient to include a dynamic parameter ?

seems so. cliff wrote once that he is basically able to make
a new step in cab simulation but missing the neded CPU power IIRC.

I would love a striped down axe FX in head form with a tube or high watt solid state power section that can be turned off separately for recording while not connected to a cab would be awesome
Plus an XLR out with IR modeling so you can go straight to FOH if you wish and still play through a cab!

This was another thing I was thinking they might be doing. I mean, they own a tube amp/cab company now (Atomic). Might as well throw the two together in one package.

I would love to see either a desktop AxeFX, a floor AxeFX, or the Axe Edit ilok version. A rack unit won't fit right on my tiny desk. I could control presets with the floor unit under my desk. Or I could just simply use the vst pluggin

"It's a entirely new Axe(2),with retina touch display, this is coming from very ,very trusted source."

That came from the Fractal forum. Don't know anything about the guy who posted it just thought I'd share
