new interface, mic, and mic pre questions!

hey guys so i finally got a new computer and decided i want to get more serious with recording some of my material..and that i need some new gear to do this...

the things i have...

sonar 6 pro.

pod xt with all packs, and i know how to use impulses..

im trying to keep things fairly simple for the moment because i dont really plan on recording live drums(ill probably just get dfhs)

would this be a good start?

also kinda off topic, do you guys know how chain a midi singal from your computer to a keyboard(triton extreme) back to your computer with the keyboards tones?

The SM7 kicks ass, I'm not sure I'd go for the ART; for USB interfaces, look at the Line 6 Toneport UX2, E-MU stuff, and the Lexicon Lambda - and for the last question, plug the MIDI output from your computer's MIDI interface into the MIDI input of your Triton, and then the audio output(s) of the Triton into the analog in(s) of your audio interface

you'll need a pre with A LOT of gain for the SM7
