New Killswitch Engage

whats not to like? theyre a one trick pony, sure. but theyre perfectly heavy. perfectly catchy. perfectly reliable...and howards clean vocals can rival just about ANY clean singer in modern metal these days. i always give credit where its due, and killswitch are a dependable workhorse of shallow, but reliable catchy metal music. i feel theyre like the metallica of this era. but i obviously wont claim theyre groundbreaking or mindblowing or "deep" or whatever, no.

but i have far more respect for them, for doing what they know they can do, and doing it EXTREMELY well and gratifying me for 3 minutes instead of some shitty, rehashed melodeath slop like Insomnium for pretending theyre anything deeper or above that of a band like killswitch just for doing what dark tranquillity already did 10 years ago.

tasty. as usual.

Provided you are being serious, i'm actualy really suprised.

I've always liked Killswitch Engage, mainly because of Alive Or Just Breathing. The way Jesse used his voice, mixing the vocal styles together. But the new singer just bugs me, and I don't think his voice is as strong.

But don't get me wrong, Howard is a great replacement. He just lacks something that Jesse had. His (Howard's) clean vocals are really good, but his screams arn't as good. I love to see/hear him do a heavy album with clean vocals sometime.

Having said that, i'm keen to check out their new stuff. Listening now...

I saw killswitch open for in flames and dark tranquillity a while back. They had a lot of intensity on stage, which was fun. Is howard the black singer or do they have a newer guy then that? I know their old singer is now in seemless (an okay band but nothing to brag about). I still can't make my mind up about this band, but i dont hate listening to them.

howard is the black guy. i saw them on that tour as well. they were easily the most energetic and impressive band that night. dark tranquillity gets very stale and boring, and in flames live at that juncture took a serious downhill plunge. oh well

I don't care much for the new KSE since it has all become so boring and poppy (structure-wise) but Alive Or Just Breathing was pretty nice.
