I guess there's always hope Metallica will get inspired to write good songs again, but after the Load albums, I'm gonna need to hear this new one before I shell out any $ for it.

What the hell do they have to be angry about with all the $$ they have?

Didn't PUSHEAD design the cover? Kinda... well, I'd've expected skulls or something...

I'm not very optimistic about the album contained within. Metallica had two chances with me... I got Load and Reload. Anything that has Bob Rock's stain will need to prove itself to me before I invest another dollar in Lars' coke habit.

But I will happily go see Creeping Death!! :)

Normally, I do support bands I like by buying their albums, but I may be tempted to download this one first... :Smug:

Maybe with the addition of Rob Trujillo, the band will actually whip itself into shape. Hopefully, they've scrapped all of Bob Rock's bass lines in the album, and allowed Rob to redo them. I can't believe that Rock was even playing on the album at all :err:

I think Metallica might have been okay without Bob Rock's interference and commercialization. They would have at worst faded into obscurity with a bit of dignity instead of becoming the epitomy of sell outs. As long as Bob Rock is involved, I have very little faith in the band. And actually, I really don't believe there's anything left to salvage. I think they'e lost their voice and their muse somewhere along the way. Tiz best to let them go, methinks. Consider them broken up, and anything branded with the non-traditional Metallica logo is a new band entirely.

but I would have expected better artwork from Pushead -- skulls, dammittt! I love Pushead's skulls!

Although I suppose its better than the blood-n-spooge thing they had on Load -- EW!!!

I agree here. I suppose this is why I have my post-Black albums in storage, except for S&M, which I actually like a bit.

At least I'd like to see how this one turns out. It's no wonder Newsted left. I'm glad to see him in his fave band, Voivod; he deserves it. Even Jean-Yves Theriault (Blacky) likes him in Voivod. I actually chuckled a bit when Newsted bragged about Voivod kicking Metallica's ass hehe. :tickled: :p

IMO, Voivod should be on the main stage, esp. considering that Jason's playing the bass for Ozzy this time.

They lost everything in September 1986 in Sweden. Tragedy always changes artists. I remember how Bloom County changed after Breathed almost died. And in Metallica's case, what was done to them was one of the most unfair things in one of the most unfair businesses on Earth. They were forced to get a new bassist and get back on the road in 6 weeks. They had no time to mourn or get over what happened to them. If you've seen the BTM you know they were a mess, and poor Jason had to take the brunt of it. I would have killed them if they treated me like that, gig or no gig. Compare that to Rush, an established band, which was given all the time it needed for Neil Peart to recover from his hell. But being a relatively new and up and coming band in 1986, Metallica had no stroke, no power to say 'we'll do it when we're ready.' I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of the reason James ended up in rehab. I'm not thrilled with almost everything the band has done from 1991 on, but IMO, forcing them to get a new bassist and get back on the road within weeks was the shittiest thing the label could have done.

And I've been more than willing to let em go. As long as I got In Flames, I'm happy. It was a year and 2 days ago that I saw em with Iced Earth. What a show. I remember seeing you running around handing out fliers for, I think, a Maidens show. :)
