Lost In Necropolis

I always wondered what One would sound like if it were written and recorded in the Re-Load sessions...

The song itself isn't too bad, but it's not really too good either.

I could have done without that stupid build up in the beginning.

Not bad at all. I like some of it. James's vocals seem pretty damn weird production wise, though. Actually the production seems a bit flat.

It's the compression Metallica used on the upload... fucking AWFUL compression. The full album will hopefully not be overcompressed to shit... I do have to hear this crap on the radio, after all.

When the entire beat finally comes in, I'm so fucking ready to start singing "Don't Fear the Reaper" it's not even funny.

The beginning and one of the parts towards the middle really really remind me of newer Iron Maiden.

Song overall is meh, James' voice at least isn't doing that psuedo country twang like he has been.

oh and I have to say, Why a ballad as the first single?

I mean, for the past decade everyone has been wanting the " old Metallica " and wanted the band to " rock " again. So they said they are doing that.

Then a ballad is the first song from the album. odd.

One more thing: the songwriting is horrible. It sounds like a garage band that's trying to play Justice-era Metallica and just can't quite pull it off.

i listened to Justice last night, and this isnt even a pale garage band attempt. the songs on Justice take lots of twists, with long riffing pasages that dont ever come back in the song, more shreddy and technical than any of their other albums. they seem to think if they have a long song thats somewhat linear that makes it "complex like Justice!"

they're obviously mistaken!
