New Miss May I online!

LOL. Is it an obligation to continue doing the "how to get signed with Rise Records" to stay with Rise Records?

Man, sounds awful. Obviously bad mastering but you can't blame it at all on that.

What's with those extra auxiliary rhythm guitar tracks that just sound like balls. Like you've got a somewhat decent rhythm guitar sound as a base, and then you get these overbearingly horrendous extra 2 rhythm guitar tracks layered on at some parts that have this awful peak and sound like white noise fizz. It goes on the whole song but a perfect part to hear what I'm talking about is at 1:12. dadada SHHHH! dadada SHHHH!

Not to mention the whole mix is fighting with itself. And all the ambience layered under a lot of bad sounding tracks doesn't help when it isn't controlled.

Btw, Miss May I is fucking METAL, not a risecore band like their labeled.. Can't wait for you guys to realize that when this album drops.. Metal as fuck..

Sorry dude...this is pretty much the definition of risecore, not "metal as fuck"

Oh, I especially enjoyed the ultra genericore breakdown part at 1:42 with the gay hardcore lead up (I can just imagine live: HOLY SHIT! ARE YOU READY TO THROW DOWN!? TWO STEP OR GET OUTTA THA FUCKIN PIT! etc)

Sorry for being brutal, but I actually half expected the mix to sound decent after Nick's hype in that thread considering where it was recorded, and maybe with some actual riffs

I no longer like EVERYTHING that has come out of The Machine Shop. WTF ..... i am so confused .... how?

Seriously. It sounds like a demo. Is this a bad, and late, april fools joke or something?

also is it just me or is there a REALLY early kick drum right in the beginning of the song?

Not entirely surprised.

This sounds edited poorly as well on second listen. Shit is just not sounding good all around, it's like the mix has a giant whole in the mid range. Guitars don't sound dialed in very well either.

2:19 ish. BAAAADD edit. there's actually a few of these.

I was on the Sturgis forum via facebook (and you know the breed that dwell there), and Joey said something that put my day in perspective. he was like "I remembered the chorus after the song had ended" and I was like, "Word." Because if you think about it, that's kind of the point for a band like this.

The amount of bad edits on this makes me want to hang myself... That main crash cymbal is also way too fucking LOUD! It does have that "vibe" from Machine, but it definitely doesn't sound like he mixed this... wtf, or he probably did on an acid trip...

There are cuts everywhere, wayyyy too listenable...

yep, it's like single elements are good, but somehow as a whole it sounds disjointed (i.e. bad mixing). I don't like that crash either, and those 'white noise' auxiliary guitars are indeed awful. Bad edits all over the place, too. I mean wtf???

I wouldn't call this catastrophic, it's just that it's not up to the genre (or 'genre') standard, and I am surprised, because there was quite the budget (and good production team) involved behind this. What went wrong?

How does this sound bad when it sounds like everything else out there in the same genre? Not defending it by any means, its just that I've loaded up this track and any other song from the same style and it all blends together. Unless I'm really not that critical of a person.

It might be due to the fact that a production team member got hyped the forum members all up about this record (that and Machine producing it), and in the end it doesn't sound that great :loco:

That's why you gotta keep expectations low

Now that I hear better, this mix is ear fatiguing as hell. I dont think someone who calls himself a pro will leave such bad editings here and there. I think this might be just some bad conversion to mp3.

it sounds like this was given just a day or two to work on. i wouldn't even be surprised if that really was the case.
