New mix almost done

This is for an ep that I have to have done this weekend for my own band. Im not happy with the vocals ill tell you that right off the back, ill blame it on the mic ha. oh and yea i already know turn down the verb on the vocals right? naw thats ok. Other than that id like to hear some opinions before i turn it in. theres a few little things still needed to fixed etc, but yea this should give you an idea.

as for this mix, ill check it at work cos ive only got laptop speakers here, but the songs awesome, some nice riffing there!

the clean vocals are too quiet. im liking this song alot. also the piano during the clean vocals is kind of masked by the pad ( i think it's orchestral) behind it. It could use some presence. Very nice.

hey thanks, yea thats actually the patch that was used. it was already blended i see what you mean but im pretty casual about it heh. yea maybe the clean vocals could come up but i hate them so yea thats why they are quiet.

i think the clean vocals are a high point in the song and they should be louder, but it's your mix.

dont get me wrong, im not disagreeing with you really. its just different when they are your own vocals, i tend to cringe at them ha. thanks ill probably turn them up. what about the other vocals are they of good volume? im terrible at mixing vocals.

I'd say they all could be turned up a bit - there are some spots where they are lower than others, that could be taken care of, but as you said - you weren't happy with the tracks.


Just imagine that the clean vocals were done by SikTh and go "oh dude that sounds badass we should so turn them up to bring out how powerful and emotionally moving that part of the song is."

i can see where you're coming from with vocals. when i do my own vocals (rarely), i tend to cringe even though they arent as bad as i think. The other vocals could stand to go up too.

Are they keyboard parts played or programmed? the piano playing is good.

Damn, that's a really good song, enjoying it thoroughly!
The reverb on the vocals seems fine, why the "oh and yea i already know turn down the verb" bit? It gives a nice texture to that clean sung part, though the clean vocals ought to be brought up a little indeed. Also, it's a shame that the piano is so... muffled? Try to brighten the piano a little!

sounds killer man, I dig it. Only thing I would do is brighten that piano up as stated and put a little saturation or distortion on the screams, but that's me, I like the levels how they are..
