NEW MIX AND MASTER FOR REVIEW.....THANKS GUYS!!!

the drums are a bit extreme in their compression, and the snare sound really unnatural.... but i like it. it has an "old school sound" much like the feeling i get when i listen to ackercocke. I would say change the compression and samples, but i think it would lose the character it has.

recently i've been thinking about this "quality vs. classic" sound and i have come to the conclusion that it doesn't have to sound perfect it just has to fit in the music. examples i see of this are The black dahlia murder's CD's: unhallowed has lesser production quality wise, but it has this cool older sound to it compared to their new "better sounding" record. so long story short, it's a matter of preference, but i like it as it is.

Maybe ease up a bit on the drum OH compression
My opinion as well. The drums sound fine during the song, but they sortof struggle in the intro - the OH attack is wacky and the compression makes the snare reverb sound caveman-ish. It sounds fine when the rest of the band kicks in though, so maybe adjust just the intro part?
Other than that it sounds great man, it reminds me of Ensiferum's first record a little bit soundwise, I love its oldschoolishness. :kickass:

Care to share any details?

Thanks so far guys! You guessed it as far as the production goes, we were shooting for the early 90's death metal. (ie Morgoth, Bolt Thrower - Etc.)

The only drum that is a sample obviously is the kick drums. Everything else is real.

The drums in the beginning I know are a bit wacky but I love the way they hit once everybody comes in together. Im actually for the record going to fade in the drums slowly only reaching full velocity once everyone comes in. So maybe that will handle that portion of the song. Im trying to go for the Dismember - "Like and ever flowing stream" type compression - a little bit of breathing.

I think you nailed it.

Nice sound bud. Not really my production sound I look for, but otherwise still great sounding. The snare does sound a little unatural, but fits with the track, like KeithRT99 said, matter of preference.
nice work

Sounds cool:) I'd suggest more variation in the kicks, at least in the intro, it's sounds like a drum machine there. Oh, and that's a nice guitar tone you got there

I agree with what has already been said about the drum into, however it does in fact sound good in the mix to me. I like this type of mix. And I also love old Morgoth!
