My first project with vocals and someone elses band.

Drums: Programmed in Reason, EQ
Guitars: Fernandes w/ EMG's, POD J-800
Bass: Programmed in Reason, PSA-1, Compression, EQ
Vocals: MXL condenser, Compression

I want it to be heavy, clear, but still have a raw edge to the guitars. Any input?

sounds great man! I'm definately a newbie here, so i don't know a ton about what you should do to improve your tone and such, but i think i have pretty good taste in tone and such, so i can suggest to you what I think could use a bit of change and such.

The tone is a bit harsh for my liking? Your clearly going for a kind of "Every Time I Die/A Life Once Lost" kind of tone, but i don't think they even use that harsh tone. give the mids and lows a little boost and maybe ease up on the gain just a tad? I think that will give you a little more definition. The vocals sounds absolutely fantastic for that style, I wouldn't mess with them at all.


Again, I'm a noob, But I have been playing guitar for 5 years now, so like to think I have a bit of knowledge when it comes to guitar tone. But thats just my opinion. Overall I think its a pretty solid mix, definately better than anythign i could put out right now man. Cheers!

I'll definitely adjust the EQ and see how it comes out. I tried giving the guitars a little more low end before and it wasn't working with the bass or drum tones. The kick started to disappear whenever I did. Maybe I can just ease up on the highs and gain and see what happens.. Thanks for the feedback man! I've got a bunch of views on my thread but no replies!
