new mix/song -feedback needed sneapsters!!

Got togeather with a mate and wrote and recorded this little ditty,

I mixed it a couple days after tracking (damn ear compression)

I think I might be getting closer to an 'ideal' snare sound, but it comes and goes still (for instance I like it in the breakdown and bridge)let me know what you like and dislike

As for the mixing, it sounds really good where i'm at, but I cant comment on specific features cause im not really very experienced at mixing myself!

But yeah its awesome, nice one!

Unless he re-tracked the whole thing with a POD, this was done with his XXX.


I told you on MSN, this kicks a ton of ass! I love the mix, sounds perfect to my ears, but I know what you mean about the snare. The guitar tone kicks ass, and musically, the whole thing is just pure insanity!

Nice mix, sounds good on my consumer speakers at work. The guitars sound solid, but are you using a Tube Screamer? Doesn't sound like it to me... and I think it would make your tone even better than it already is.

thanks guys, yeah that's a peavey xxx thru mesa cab.

kazrog- yeah I did use a tube screamer, I think because of the fact that heavy gauge strings were used and that there was a bit of problem with mud in the bass that it sounds like I didn't, definately needs to be a bit tighter.

You know there's a lot of people that showed us really good tones out of that red box (for example: Krazog, Diobolic etc etc)
Anyway your tone is amazing, I really love it!

disregard the dude who told you it was a pod.. i'd think you are a better judge of whether it was a pod or not.. LOL.. sick riffin' ..very nice... this should jsut be all instrumental... no vocalists to muck it up.

dss3 sent me this the other day. Very cool! And I think it's a great tone. I'd love to hear some lead tones from that xxx though. I don't really have any complaints about the mix. Basically sounds pro to my ears.

hahaha nah I don't think it sounds 'pod-ish', and yes the tones kazrog, diabolic5150 and blackneonbob get are awesome.

as for leads I'll hopefully get some done on some new tunes, you can here a slighly 'leadish' tone on the bridge though doing that octaves riff, the xxx can definately get very smooth and fluid lead sounds due to the active e.q.
