New Morbid Angel, anyone?

As long as vincent only write bass and does the vocals the album will be good... the lyrics to Domination suck.

I've said it once, but I will say it again, behold the power of Formulas Fatal to the Flesh.

Seriously.

Formulas > Altars

Seriously though, you are the only other person I have ever seen in a forum or metal chat that has praised Formulas, other than I. Why can't they hear the spectral brilliance? Oh sure, they'll wank all day over bad MA copyists like Mithras, but defer on their latter works?

The world is full of cunts.

I've only listened to it half a dozen times, and each and every time it's grabbed me by the balls and slammed me into fast moving vehicles. It's also got a really fucked up riffing style, which I adore to no end. They need more of that totally bizarre riffing. Heretic has a bit of it, but it almost sounds like they tried a bit too hard there, and it ends up a bit awkward.

My buddy who is a huge Morbid Angel fan fucking loves that album, but I still have yet to put it on... I may do it after the CD I'm playing now.

I like FFTTF and it's the only really great MA with steve stucker, but I still enjoy the first four more.

The riffs on Domination are more weird and it's consistant through the album where formulus has 2,3 songs with weird riffing and the rest faster older morbid angel style. For the person that wants more weird MA riffing listen to the 'Domination' album.

Gateways songs are just dragged out more than what they offer musically in them. Gateways To Annhilation could have been a lot better.

Formulas is shizen mate. It's the only MA album I can't listen to - normally your taste is pretty good what with Carcass and the new Bolt Thrower, but FFttF is pretty crap.

No. You just have bad taste.

Wow! Lots of opinions here, guys! MA stuff varies so much from album to album - its obvious that everyone is going to have their favorites. The people who lean towards BM in taste ALWAYS prefer Altars and Blessed, while people who are into brutal DM will obviously go for Formulas, etc... I think that Covenant is their best one, myself. I remember buying it when it first came out and my high school ass was fucking blown away! It was also the first one that I ever got by them, and I think that, along with Individual Thought Patterns by Death, it was my main inspiration to start playing this type of music. (hmmmm...well, I can't exclude Clandestine and Symphonies Of Sickness). My least fave by MA would have to be Heretic, which still in my opinion is a decent fucking release! The 2-disc version has a bunch of instrumental tracks of Trey and Pete playing the songs off the album - I actually appreciate disc2 better than the main. I would be curious to hear something new by those guys, I'm sure that they are planning to record whatever is going to start with "I" at some point. :kickass:

Maybe I will get flamed for this but I really really enjoy Gateways To Annihilation.
Gateways is alright, pretty much what was expected after Formulas. I think that maybe they tried to get a little too weird on that one, but I still give it a go every now and again!

I agree.

Blessed did not grow on me right off. I later realized how brilliant the album is.
