The new Nile is good. It's not great, but it's good. I'd say it's better than anything since Annihilation, but not as good as Annihilation.
The new Gojira, however, is great. I like Gojira, but for me Gojira is a lot like Meshuggah in the sense that after a bit it all starts to just meld together and sound the same. They're not very dynamic. This all changed with the new album. There are very nice passages in the new Gojira album that go beyond their typical Pantera-meets-Morbid Angel sound. I'd still like more varied vocal styles, but there are some nice clean vocals as well on this album. I hope they continue evolving in this vein.
The riffs after the bridge in Explosia is fantastic...it sounds great even if you don't wanna bang your head. It's very cool, especially with that clean-but-dirty guitar riff on top of it that give it that spaghetti western feel.
The Axe is a great song, just killer.
Planned Obsolescence is really dynamic but simple while still being very musical. I honestly thought their last album was quite overrated...it's a great album but not like From Mars To Sirius. This album kinda brings me back to FMTS.
