Hey all,

It's been quite a while since I've posted a full length track for you to check out: I was busy doing a country album! :OMG:

Anyway, started back on a metal project earlier this year & just finished it off. All kinds of new toys & techniques on this one.

Track is called "Suffer in Solitude" by Aquila. First track on my hi-res player.

Annunciate, dammit! Annunciate!

Kick is a Slate kick, everything else is 100% real. Snare took some serious processing to get it that way, tried a whole bunch of ideas out before I came up with the "lethal combo." .... I've never got a snare to pop like that in my life. I can post some details if you're interested... gotta run to work right now, though.

Guitars were on/off axis 5150 with Mesa v30 cab.

Sounds great Oz.....Hey can you maybe give me some info on how you got that hi-res player in your myspace...... i remember you saying something about it in another thread.....and im interested in getting rid of the myspace player

Fuck me if this has anything to do with the topic, but I really like the Assassinate the Following song (Sinful Beginnings). Great heavy metal beginning and great sound!
The Aquila ones are really cool too.
And most Ibanez's do suck.

You mean "Kill or be killed", right?

More bass Oz. It's barely noticeable on my end (medium/low volume). The guitars need it to sound thicker I think.

Thanks for the honest critique. I added a bit more treatment to the control room & I've got a clearer bottom end.... maybe making me mix it a little bass-weak. I'm so afraid of dropping in too much bottom & making the mix sound muddy.

As for the bass guitar, getting it to have any kind of definition with those guitars was exceedingly difficult. Perhaps it's time to get a bass amp for the studio.

Talked to the band & I'm gonna do a few tweaks in a couple of days.... I just want some time away from it to clear my head before I start changing things. Figured out how to get the bass guitar more distinct & thicken up the guitars.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback... your input is much appreciated. Stay tuned for a tweak or two in a couple of days.

...and no, I'm not changing the kick. I love that kick. :)
