it truly is one of the best album covers I think I've ever seen.

This cover kicks ass.

Hey there's a lot of great punk and thrash, some even coming out today.

But it's still dead.

Punkers and thrashers that hate each other remind me of playground crushes, the more insults you scream, the more everyone else can feel the love. :loco:
They are sooooooooo damn similar it's not even funny.

I've tried to explain it before and you either get it or you don't it seems. lizard gets it. Punk and thrash are stagnant, there is no place else left for them to go. They have run their artistic loop, there is nothing left to bring to those two genres to make them New and Improved. You don't have to stop listening to punk and thrash, it doesn't mean everything new coming out today sucks, and it doesn't mean I dislike both musical styles as a whole. It's just spent, and that's okay.

Psychedelia is pretty spent too, but I still enjoy The Mars Volta and Ufomammut. See what I mean? Fry? Bueller? No? Damn. :dopey:

Thrashers understand what your saying. But just don't care.

Jazz is "Dead" then, its still the same with small inovations here and there, and re-invention by certain Artists blahbalbhalh. Its all the same Framework, you can isntantly tell its Jazz, and to non-Jazz fans it would seem stagnant, but fans of Jazz can pick out differences between artsits blahblahblahblahbyadadyaydadyda you get my jist.

Psychedelia could grow, but it relies on tried and true stuff, which may sound self defeating given the nature of the genre, but can still sound excellent like the two examples I gave above. Someone needs to try something different though, although I guess you could say Radiohead was pushing some stuff never done before for awhile.

That's a roundabout way of saying I agree with you like usual, lizard. :loco:

well Radiohead, whether you like them or not, are always trying something new....

I have a double CD comp by a 60s band called Love...my god, some shit that is catchy, quirky, and totally fried on acid. Anything goes, and frequently does. true psychedelia is literally born of risk taking and adventure. Same with Jefferson Airplane's live CD, Bless it's Pointed Little Head - - talk about some fucking playing without a net.
