no, you don't need 20 posts, cos you have to host your avatar somewhere else on the web and link it here 
the pixel size is 100x100, but don't worry about finding a pic of that size cos it will be resized automatically

I see in the picture properties that you have linked it from your hard-drive?
if yes, then it won't work for sure!
you have to host it somewhere on the web. on a website. and from there copy and paste the url into the field in your profile on UM.
if you don't have a place, then you could do what I did in the beginning: I uploaded the avatar on ICQ (in the profile-section, instead of a picture ) and copied the url from icq's page then.
