New Rammstein

Yeah. I liked Rammstein when I first heard them in 97 or 98 because they were pretty unique, they even spawned a whole genre. You didn't get anything THAT heavy besides them playing on mainstream stations, TV and radio.

But nowadays? It's just way too much simple mid-tempo stuff, which is sometimes catchy, but bores me already on second listen.

i dont think so. If you mean they have a tongue in cheek aspect to them then maybe. But musically they are vastly different. Plus type o negative is way better IMHO.

I mean, they´re both sarcastic, heavy, dark/gothic, have a "sex moody" and... well, do things like appear naked on the videoclip and put a self butt shot on the album cover. Steele was even on a Playgirl magazine.

yea i suppose. still musically alot different. maybe its because i dont like rammstien but i like type o negative . october rust is one of my favorite all time albums. and they have a lot better lyrics then "you have a pussy, i have a dicka!" haha.

Well, Oomph! and Die Krupps were doing it a lot earlier than Rammstein.

But those bands had a far heavier electro/industrial vibe to them.

I'm more talking about bands like Richthofen or Megaherz who got fairly big in Rammstein's commercial wake.

Journalists went as far as to summarize these bands under "New German Heaviness" (roughly translated) while Die Krupps etc. were always categorized as industrial or industrial metal.

And as with every trend, only the biggest bands will survive so Rammstein is the only "NGH" band of relevance as of today.

But yeah, I though it was quite hilarious when Oomph! had their only huge commercial hit over here and people were accusing them for ripping-off Rammstein.

I just didn't know how popular the German term is. But considering your playlist, it doesn't seem to be much uncharted territory for you. ;)
