Just picked up this head in a trade a couple weeks back. Been working with it while writing some new songs for my band. This clip is not mixed. I just set a few compressors and set a bit of eq on kick and snare. I've got a basic 2-bus compressor set and I threw a limiter for some volume before bouncing this section to put up here. No automation what so ever, I'm just writing the song so I'm more or less focusing on the song than anything else. Let me know what you gents think.

It's the treadplate module. I really like the ultra xl, however I was going for a looser bottom end on this one and the treadplate had it.

Did you use a RM100 to track your newest and reamped it with a 5150 or was it the other way around?

ultra XL

Just for fun, I reamped the same section with the ultra xl module set to nearly the same settings as the treadplate, only difference is I actually dimed the bass which I don't think I have ever done. It's kind of a erroneous test considering a couple variables are different. I had to setup up the mics again. Put them in the same position however, or as close to it as I can get. Probably a different volume on the amp as well because I had to adjust the gain on my preamps some from yesterday. Oh well. Listen anyway...heh :loco:

Randall is without the best amplifiers for metal, thats all I have to say.

Yeah thats how I felt with the ultra xl, little brighter. Only bit of eq I had was filtering out below 78hz and above 13khz. Listening to it a couple of days later, I don't think I need to have the bass eq dimed. When I get back home, I'll mess with it some more and maybe screw with some more modules. This amp seems like its going to be a joy to work with.
