Twelve TESTAMENT albums reviewed by RC staff, from The Legacy all the way through to First Strike Still Deadly.

Go. Look. Read. Prepare to cream thy pants & panties. Discuss.

:Spin:

That took ALL day to do. No lie - every bit of text formatting, graphics splicing and dicing, the friggin' album covers, the review backgrounds, the in-frames, etc - we started that at 10am and finished it at 11pm (taking occasional breaks for food etc).

*shakes head in disbelief*

Manly love will do just fine.

Actually wrapped this feature up today along with a song-by-song discussion with Steve Williams for the new Power Quest album. I wish this stuff did pay 'cos I certainly aint doing any *real* work, har!

Well the graphics and layout look incredible as do all our features. The writing is beyond reproach of course, as always.

Now to steak and wine, be back to read the rest of the reviews later.

Wonderful job to everyone involved. It feels good to give respect where respect is due.

makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

now what band should we tackle next? me having some ideas....

Evil C...

Just review Rust in Peace and Peace Sells, then call it a day.

Oh I'm kidding, those two sucked as well.

Okay now I'm just being altogether goofy. :tickled:

Yeah, I can guess which band you'd want to do! Well, the next two have already been decided via the RC e-mail discussions. NAD's working on one, and myself and Chief B are working on the other. Feel free to share the ideas via mail though - I know PJ's had one in the works for a while, even before his Sabbath feature...

And no, it aint gonna be Megadeth, although they would be a good band to do ONCE THE NEW ALBUM IS OUT!! Otherwise it would end on a really sour note since their last two albums, compilations, and live efforts were utter garbage.....and I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt...maybe there is some magic left, who knows, heh.

Now I expect every motherfucker on this forum to go check out the TESTAMENT feature. It's been up less than 12 hours and already we're discussing Megadeth? FUCK! :yell:

Talk to me about Testament only! It's the RC rule of the day.

Discuss.....like the band/hate the band? Ever heard the band (Dreamlord)? favorite album? favorite song? James Murphy or Alex Skolnick? Chuck Billy clean vox or death growls? etc.

Just went through it and it's a good read. Testament are easily one of my favorite bands of all time, and they really mean alot to me. I know it's tough to compare the reviews when different people are doing them, but I admit that I chuckled when I saw that The Gathering received the same score as The Ritual (two albums that are on complete opposite ends of the Testament spectrum to me... guess which one is on which end?).

favorite album?
Picking just one is tough. It's a cop-out answer, but I'll just say that The Legacy, The New Order, The Gathering, and First Strike Still Deadly are all right there and my favorite is whatever one I'm listening to at the moment.

favorite song?
geez, I don't know... Into The Pit?

James Murphy or Alex Skolnick?
Well, outside the realm of Testament, my answer is Murphy. In Testament though, it's gotta be Skolnick, even though he was ruining the band at the end of his tenure imo. The amazing work on the early albums cannot be denied. I love Murphy, but he didn't do enough in Testament.

Chuck Billy clean vox or death growls?
Both! ie The Gathering.

I think Practice WHat You Preach is incredible, and I look forward to picking up a handful more Testament CDs now that I know which ones to get.

Yeah, that's always going to happen - fair point. Thing is, I ranked my albums based against how I would rank the others (whether I review them or not). For example, I would have given PwyP no less than 9.5/10, and so The Gathering was an easy 8/10.

Murphy seems to excel in a live environment - when I saw him on the Gods of Metal tour, he stole the show for me. I'm going to follow up on what Papa Josh said about the Live in Fillmore album (I don't own it, but I'd like to hear Murphy captured live).

Also, for those who own it, did anyone agree with my Demonic review - that is, it's either loved or hated, and personally I do think it's better than The Gathering, which I truly believe to be overrated.

When Practice came out, I thought it was the be all, end all album. Honestly, it hasn't stood the test of time as well as I'd like it to. It's still a very good album, and has great moments, but now I only have it above Souls and Ritual, about even with Low.

I love Demonic, but I think The Gathering is better.
