I read a while back in RockDetector's Biff Byford interview http://www.rockdetector.com/artist,7753,interviews.sm?interview=6
that Saxon were planning to put out another DVD this year:

"We’ve got a DVD planned, which is quite exciting. I know everyone is doing them now but Saxon fans have not been catered very well for with videos and such like. In the early days we really neglected ever filming the band so there’s not much there. So, what we’re doing on this tour is documenting the whole thing across Europe. It’s going to be a kind of ‘year in the life of Saxon’, 25 year anniversary thing.”
"

So if someone here has close contacts with the band, could you please suggest them to put for example 6 or 7 of their recently filmed shows (it could be also shows from previous years like Wacken 1999 or Bang Your Head 2000 and 2002 for example) on DVD, instead of just 1? IMO, it would go really well with the "year in the life of Saxon, 25 year anniversary thing" and it would be a real treat for us SAXON fans as well.

Anybody else agrees with me?

I could not agree more! Its great news about the upcoming dvd, but i think they should go all out and release a dvd box set! With loads of full concerts.

Having said that, i will be more than happy with whatever they decide to release!

I'm not bothered too much about the DVD, unless there is an hour of interviews by Mr Byford and Quinn about the early days. There is only so much "live footage" that you can watch, but you cannot see too much live "Saxon"

I'd like to read the full story from start to finish (The Chronicles of Saxon... perchance) wart's and all. It would be a fantastic book to read if it ever made it past the Lawyers, a minefield of litigation..... you'd better believe it.

they were supposed to do a couple shows in California, that may be as close to you that they come,at least this tour. When was the last time you saw them,RicknRoll?I am excited that they are coming to Chicago.I noticed you were listening to the Dogs album,I have that in my car currently as well.the first 2 tracks and the last 2 tracks are my favourites,I like most of the tracks,my least is Walking thru Tokyo.

The last time I saw them was 1984 on the Crusader tour they came thru again on Unleash the beast tour but for some reason the show got canceled

Yeah I bought Dogs over the 4th of July weekend great album/CD yeah I can say theres not really a bad song on it, I have almost all of there albums but I still have several to go

Well, hi there! Not on this forum so much nowdays....

As far as i can remeber they also filmed the gig in CARDIFF 1983, but only (part of) NOTTINGHAM 1983 was released. The show in MADRID 1985 for the Live Innocence video was part of a serie of TWO filmed shows in Madrid i think. And i know Biff yell on the audiotape from BARCELONA 1985 (days before Madrid) that they "are filming the gig tonight" ........... But who knows where theese masters are today....if they even excists.... I also know the band shot several shows/backstage in England 1995, with a ordinary handycam..... The coolest video i have MYSELF is a full gig from Sheffield 28/11-1980. Think is was filmed by someone in Militiaguard. Not the best quality or sound, but a better copy should excist..... (i DO NOT copy this one to anyone, only if the band would ask for a copy if they haven´t got it)

Very Strange:Thread about Judas Priest new album receives 176 replies, Thread about a possible new SAXON dvd receives 11 replies...... which board are we on???

Obviusly this is NOT the best SAXON forum on the net.....

Very good point there mate! I think this SAXON board should separate from Ultimate Metal and become a separate forum with the design like this one:

I can't agree with you there, sorry.
It would be VERY boring only talking about Saxon all the time. I like many bands, and its nice to discuss other bands as well as Saxon.
We are all Heavy Metal fans after all.
I think if this forum was a 'talk about Saxon and nobody else' type of forum, less people would come and post messages!! :erk:

I remember Biff at the King Tut's gig saying that it was being filmed for DVD. And I also remember seeing 2 guys down the front doing the filming and they took quite a few crowd shots as well, oh dear I hope I'm not in it!!!!!

I agree, it would be very boring just talking Saxon talk all of the time. AOR was a very much anticipated album and loads on here bought it and obviously there was a lot of hype and talk in the run-up to the concert. I think everyone was really really looking forward to seeing Priest and after everyone had seen them and saw how tremendous they still are, we all had to share our experiences and thoughts with the other members. Nothing wrong with that - I'm seeing a massive load of bands over the next couple of months and I will be sharing my experiences and photos with all of you.

Some of these posts got me thinking....

I know it sounds cynical but what if these bands just tell every crowd at every gig that they are filming/recording it to get a bigger reaction?.....Nah i take it back, sorry guys, only Metallica would do something as low as that!!!

I see what you mean, but DanTheSwede's point still remains valid. Ie. there are more ppl in here who anticipated new Judas Priest rather than something new by Saxon. And it shows in both threads.

Well then you should have been reading when we were waiting for Lionheart to be released, and after it was released - people on here talked about nothing else at that time :)

Yeah and I have had Lionheart a while now.The new Priest album is an album we have waited for for ages.If new maiden album or acdc album came out we would about them.Beside Halford is back thats big metal news.
