Who are some of your favorites. Here is a kick ass band from Texas with a new album out today. More on the darker, evil side of the spectrum like Integrity, Ringworm, etc.

POWER TRIP

This is my type of thread! I love this stuff!

Most of my favourites are the more popular bands (Warbringer, Evile, etc.), but I'll share a few most people might not be familiar with:

Mass Extinction - Creation's Undoing

This is a pretty cool band out of Ireland. To my knowledge this demo/EP was their only release, and while not overly convincing, it is fun to throw on once in a while.

Bludvera - Terrorform

These guys are driven by the insanely awesome vocals of Scott Clayton! They have plenty of good riffs, but the style of thrash is fairly standard. The only bad thing about this band is their refusal to re-record their best song ("Infection" was only released a two-song demo rehearsal that I don't think is available any more).

Fatality - Beers From The Grave

This is a local band for me, and they are just preparing for the release of their second record, Psychonaut, but their first album is well worth hearing. Their singer is the only guy I've heard that comes close to John Connelly in Nuclear Assault. The songs are so catchy that they'll be stuck in your head the first time you hear them. I'm not that keen on what I've heard from the second record, but I'll definitely give it a shot.

Mutant - Laserdrome

If you only listen to one band in this thread, it should be Mutant. After releasing one of the most brilliant four-song EP's this band seems to have fallen off the map. Their songs are the perfect mix of technical riffing and headbang-inducing moments. In fact, it's been way too long since I've heard the EP, and will be busting it out today :D

I'll also just namedrop a few of my other favourites in case anybody needs more bands to check out: Alcoholator, Laceration, Invection, Mortifier (first album), Besieged, Fog of War, Insinnerator, Pollution, Entrench, Vindicator.

New HATCHET record is pretty sweet. Nice improvement over the debut.

and if you guys have never given RINGWORM a chance you might want to. while not your typical thrash band, being born out of the Cleveland hardcore scene in the early 90's they bring the fucking thrash their vocalist rules. Huge influence on me over the years. the FINALLY signed to a label that isn't Victory, and that is RELAPSE.

How about 'huge' improvement. The drums on that first album were so horribly performed, I thought I was listening to an old Venom album, at first. So many people wrote them off as third rate due to that, it took a lot of work on the part of The End Records, plus the band to put them back in good grace with the Thrash Metal fans. It's so funny how Brian Slagel will accept such mediocrity to cash in on a trend. Just proves what his true motives are. I'll bet he never even heard the band before he gave the ok to sign them...

I really don't think this is a fair comment at all. 2008 was really the start of the thrash resurgence, and it's difficult to say that signing a band at that point is a cash grab.

Also, while it isn't the best produced record, there is a certain charm to it. The riffs and songwriting are as interesting as anything on the second record. I enjoy both a lot, but I'm always surprised to see how many people don't enjoy that first Hatchet record.

I totally agree. And oddly enough, the drumming is what I find most captivating about the first album. Reminds me of Razor alot

There are standards that musicians have to strive for in order to be proficient with an instrument. In the case of drummers, keeping time and not faltering in tempo are the basic fundamentals of performance. So, the drummer for Razor must suck as well, then...

Here is a band from North Carolina that loves some Lamb Of God and Pantera. I was going to try and work with them but they went ahead and pressed the album themselves a few years back. Great disc if you are into bands I mentioned. Jamie King mixed it.
