Just thought it would be fun to list new up and coming Thrash bands perhaps the rest of us should check out... these guys posted in the General Metal Forum in the Thrash thread so thought it would do good in Old School... what interests me about them is that Flemming is their producer:

Thrash!!! tico... Thrash!!! not trash...

anyways no one here is saying new bands are better then old ones... but there is nothing wrong with discovering new bands... I listen to old school Black Metal but that doesn't mean I won't look for , discover and listen to newer Black Metal bands... same with Classic metal... i like listening to the old stuff but have to look for new blood or else you will get bored of the old bands...

Wow we have another dweller of the hellhole in the forum :D

As for a new thrash band. I have to recommend undoubtedly the German band Abandoned. Their debut "Thrash Notes" from last year was among my top 5 albums of the year, and it's pure old-school thrash.

O sea mae, está pichudísimo!

@ UM: well some of today's bands are trash

NP: Pagan Altar - 'The Witches Pathway'

Evile don't sound too bad at all!! Definately have that old school Slayer/ Overkill/ Exodus vibe going. I'd almost go as far to say that I'd prefer them to Slayer adn old Exodus (not that I'm a huge fan of either of them, though).

For new- old schhol inspired bands, I would recommend In Malices Wake. A local aussie band with a shit load of potential, fusing Megadeth, Kreator and Testament into a melodic thrash assult which sticks in your head like any good band should.

A couple of very good spanish bands (both singing in english);

Angelus Apatrida: Absolutely brilliant in my opinion.

Omission: Old school german thrash with early black metal touches. Unfortunately they get no myspace or website. They released an amazing demo called "day of your death arrives" in 2005.

Rancor: Thrash with more heavy metal vocals.

Spain has always been very poor in thrash metal terms (with some exceptions) but nowadays there´s a prolific scene here.

Why can't Tico's say "Thrash"? ...

Sanctity is my call as well, personally I like their singer, he has pretty mature vocals for a band that has not even released their first album yet.

As a testament to how good these guys are, they impressed the fuck out of Mustaine enough that he went backstage and personally asked them to play Gigantour, now thats a compliment for a band which at the time didn't have an album.

They are pretty damn good live as well apparently.

Other then that, despite all the hype/hate and mainstream attention they have been getting, if Trivium keep going on the path they started with The Crusade they are definetely going to mature into one hell of a thrash band.

Trivium need to get rid of the James Hetfield vocals though... :loco:

Why? I dont think they are that bad, sure, its a low singing voice like hetfields but Heafy has a different voice to Hetfield so the comparison is there but Hetfields clean vocals could belong on a country/blues album, Heafy's some pop/punk good charlotte type thing.

I'm Tico-American or Tico-Gringo I guess... but anyways thats why I call you Tico because my family is from Costa Rica... I haven't been there in almost two years so I miss CR... but it's Thrash!!! Pura Vida!!! :kickass:

I haven't heard the new Trivium in awhile but others tell me he says "yeah yeah yeah" like Hetfield a little too much so thats why i said that comment...

He does borrow a bit from Hetfields vocal technique, even he does not argue with that but then again on the guitar he borrows a lot from Mustaine circa Rust in Peace. New bands always tend to display a fair bit of their influences, where would Metallica be if people shunned them when they were starting out because they heard something that sounded a bit Motorhead? or Iron Maiden because they resembled perhaps Deep Purple of Black Sabbath in the most superficial way. I can tell you without a doubt that Metallica have never dressed as Spartans or themed an album about a metal crusade.
