Still a valid point though
The "laptop metal kid" argument sounds exactly like the "bedroom musician" bullshit that I've heard "established" guys say (like Mustain etc). The regression in metal production and songwriting, if you want to call it that, is an aesthetic change that surged due to audiences. No one else.
Kids like breakdowns, so people write breakdowns: Kids like "fake drums" so people find people who will satisfy that stylistic choice.
