I have to agree. Trivium is quite silly looking.

Oh my god look at Queensryche  . I think i'd rather look like trivium than that, lol. Trivium seem to be an ok new metal band from what i have heard, i saw a video of them on Tv the other night and they all had really long hair, guess that pic is a old one. But i really don't care about image or looks of a band as long as they rock.

Have you ever personally met them or anyone who works for them?

Yes, and I've posted my experience here many times, about how no respect their management show to people that go to their shows to have fun/work.

Unless these have boobs, which is clearly not my case.:lol::lol:

I guess I never caught that story.
I am curious to hear it.

LOL!! THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THAT OLD TRIVIUM PICTURE! I remember when they looked like that. *talking to trivs* I don't care how much black hair dye and how many old thrash shirts you have, nothing is going to convince me as hard as you want me to be convinced, you silly bastards you. Trivium has evolved at the suggestion to the label that pays them (our beloved Roadrunner). Musically, they are a very good band (and with the lack of yapping and obvious Metallica molding, the new album makes them somewhat tolerable), but they aren't leaders in any sort of way. NOT EVEN CLOSE! At least in this case we can say there are much worse bands, they all know how to play (and well).

This is pretty much how I feel about this new song. It feels like they are trying so very very hard to be "metal." Sorry guys, you might have done your homework, but underneath the Metallicaisms is still the lame screamo attitude you've always had. THe metal is in the attitude...

Maybe that's what bothers me so much about them.
It just doesnt seem genuine.
Just like I can not ever agree that Killswitch Engage, Shadow's Fall, or Lamb of God are "metal"
If this were 10 years ago, these bands would be marketing themselves as hardcore and be part of Warped tour.

Oh thats exactly it. It doesn't matter how much you say you're metal, how many "underground" band shirts you show off in your promo photos, a real metal fan is going to spot a poser a mile away. Heres a hint...if you have goddamn lobe plugs you have no business wearing a Death t shirt

I disagree with the previous comment about lamb of god. While his vocals are similar to some hardcore, I grew up in the old school hardcore scene. Lamb of god is not metalcore, nor hardcore. They have more in common with Pantera.

Trivium is too polished to me. They have gone from the metalcore ship to trying too hard to have the Metallica stuff.

I truly wish there was a band that came up out of nowhere with something genuinely new to offer us.

Well, I didn't mean that LoG reminds me of Government Issue, 7 Seconds, Uniform Choice, or the Cro-Mags, but the vocal style is indeed more hardcore than metal.

This band was an early victim to 'omg we're on a label lets listen to what they tell us to do,' and now have found themselves. Nice to hear this kind of music. The bassist used to be in a thrash metal band, but figured they weren't taking music seriously enough so went to Trivium. Either way, are these guys -metal- I don't know. But the way they dressed, and all that had a lot to do with label pressure.

I have a feeling that these guys were young and confused where they wanted to fall at musically. Perhaps initially they weren't true metal, and were easily distracted by other musical influences of their generation. Hell, many of us on the board didn't find metal to later in their lives. I tend to believe him when he says that initially he wanted to front a band but couldnt' sing, so he screamed. Now he wanted to put out music that he truly enjoys, and took the effort to take vocal lessons to learn to sing. Learning to sing also made their riffs and leads change a bit.

If a different band put out this album this year, and had the -metal look-, and it wasn't a Roadrunner release, people in the metal community would be calling this one of the best albums of the year. So are they posers? Perhaps. How many of the true metal -non posers- can play the song Crusade, nonetheless some of their other sounds? Hell how many can come up with an album as complete as this one? With songs that sound different, yet still as Trivium.

Either way I know I won't convince anybody, and don't care if I do. But for those that haven't made up their mind about them, give the album a spin. You might be impressed, or perhaps you'll hate it.

I remember seeing them open up for Iced Earth and the first thing that came to my mind was that it sounded 'forced'. *shrugs*

I saw the video for Anthem for the first time this weekend when passing through Headbanger's Ball. Up until then, all I knew about Trivium was that I had heard a small bit from them a while back and didn't like it. But this song made me take notice, I actually liked it a lot. If the rest of the CD is similar, I'm definitely interested.

Also, two members of Trivium were guest hosts of HBB and the singer actually seemed well spoken (well, at least better than the usual doofus of a host).

Trivium has gone from ripping off Shadows Fall, who in turn was ripping off In Flames and Dark Tranquillity, to ripping off Metallica and Motley Crue.

bleh.
