but also i have been just a simple rock fan for a while...but have seen through all the bullshit and finnally seen metal is truly the best form of music out there. that being said, i dont know NEARLY as many metal bands as all yall on here...so

any recommendations

Some recomendations; Satyricon, Burzum, Enslaved, Emperor are your basic black metal essentials. Also you need early Morbid angel, Carcass, celtic frost, kreator

A good gateway band is cradle of filth, in particualr their early works, expecially dusk and her embrace, also Opeth, and of course slayer and vader

i would say to start, metallica and pantera, relatively known heavy metal bands like that (for just a plain metal sound, before you delve deeper.)

some good thrash is (obviously) slayer, megadeth.

black metal: dimmu borgir, burzum, dark funeral, emporor, behemoth (they could go black or death metal)

you must listen to DEATH. and iron maiden.

just was listening to sum music one day, happened to be metal, then switched to sum reg. rock and was like dude, metal kicks ass way more than this shit so ya

sum metals bands i listen to now are metallica, disturbed, black sabbath...summore classic....but was looking here for sum good metal bands

and also local bands too

o ya...i forgot the band that prob first got me into metal..like one of the first metal bands i started listenin to

linkin park

more rap metal...but metal none the less

but i can still share the expeirence. i used to like bands like linkin park and slipknot and stuff, and then those bands led me deeper and deeper etc etc., until i got to whee i am now.

Try In Flames and Children Of Bodom. They are both REALLY good bands for a new metal head. Very melodic, heavy, and fast.
