Next mixing context - Deadline August 12, 2006 @ Midnight

Here's my next version. I just noticed that the "lead"-guitar is still a bit too quiet and there are still a couple of small issues which I'll fix. Please comment and give advice.
"Mastered" version:
nuclearass_mix2_m.mp3
"Not Mastered" version:
nuclearass_mix2.mp3

I also tried reamping, because I'm not satisfied with the guitars at all, but had a similar problem as LSD-Studio with the hum... so the guitars are still: guitarsuite + C4 + eq. I don't have a reamp box so the signal went straight from the card (staudio dsp2000) output to the amp and seemed to work just fine except for the hum. Do you guys have a solution for this? Will a reamp box get rid of it or are there some kind of ground hum removers?

Reamp box is the solution. You can also try using a passive DI box in reverse. Sometimes it works (didn't work for me though). If you still get hum after using a reamp box, make sure you are taking power from the same source as your PC/Mac.

k, don't have the time to reamp again, so i gotta live with this.
i love cj's version, he did a great job. anyway, i wanted to make it less "harsh" and smoother, a little more in the killswitch direction (of course i know it's far away from that quality;) ).

here's the my version, spill your thoughts, please.

btw...it's v60

NuclearAss - Loving your mix, the guitars don't sound too bad, but the thing im enjoying most is the drums. They are sounding nice and tight and punchy. Id appreciate if you could go through what you did with them, and what samples you used etc.

Thanks!
I actually used a lot of eq:s on the drums... all of the drum tracks have eq:s on them because I always lowcut or hicut (or both) everything where low/high frequencies are not needed.
Kick: original + fusion from D4 + monsterkick from D4 all routed to a buss where eq'd & compressed
Snare: Original + my own sample (one that I made from 2 different samples). I really like the snare sample and I have also used it before on a couple of mixes if I remember correctly. Snares are also routed to a buss and eq'd & compressed there. The original is also gated & compressed.
Then all the drums are routed to a bus where they are compressed. This kinda "ties" them together.
Bass:Amplitube -> Compression -> Eq
Vocs: Rvox -> SSL LMC -> eq -> de-esser -> delay.
Reverbs: 2 reverb busses: 1 Medium Hall reverb (Rverb), 1 Gated (Rverb).

my god i hate yousendit so damn badly... lol... i came to this thread just now and couldn't listen to nearly ANYONE's mixes due to the yousendit links having expired... MKS, it's a shame you insisted on that service.

Yeah, I have to agree. I forgot about the 7 day limit. However, I do have all the songs. I can post them later today.

no opinions?
:Smokin:

Just a quick note. With all the extra vox tracks, you are not obligated to use them all. I just posted all the tracks so you would have the freedom of using them if you wanted to.

mhh... i was having trouble getting a decent, consistent snare sound, so i checked to see if the waveforms allign right.

and wtf, the sampled snare wasn't alligned with the mic'd snare... i first thought it was a drumagog problem (i'd rendered the wave with it), so i then checked with the original trigger wave... it still doesn't allign - sometimes it hits at the same time with the mic'd snare, other times it doesn't :zombie:

is it me? :erk:
the kick trigger works perfectly btw

I didn't have a problem with that but maybe the wave got screwed up on export.

I still suck at mixing but I seem to have better luck triggering the actual mic track. I usually clone it, gate it, and compressor the living shit out of it and then use drumagog.
