NI CAN GO EAT A BAG OF DIRTY OLD GUY DICKS.

Loren Littlejohn

Lover of all boobage.
I fucking loath their idea of product support. I want a fucking phone number with someone on the other end that isn't a complete fucking idiot.

Steven Slate Drums is failing hard. I can't get the fucking VST version to work even though NI's GOD FUCKING DAMN SERVICE CENTER PIECE OF SHIT is saying it's

"Authorized"

It's like a big fuck you and a middle finger to the face. I pay a smidge over $300 and can't get the fucker to work on my new mac pro.

/END FUCKING RANT.

P.S. I contacted yellow matter and sent a very detailed report of the issue to NI. So far... unfortunately I can't really say I am happy with support from either.

yeah, SSD is unusable in Pro Tools.
doesn't bother me much 'cause I'm not working with midi anyway (unless I HAVE to), but still....--->would be great to get just the samples for a better price without all the NI midi crap that ain't working anyways

Shit, really? I was finally gonna get it this month, but if this is true, then I might not bother :/

yeah, i already opened a similar thread a few weeks ago - NI sucks fucking dick, that's for sure.

i personally had lotsa trouble with the activation process...offline activation was down, my audio PC has no internet -> fail.
after contacting the "support" i bit the bullet and connected my audio PC to the internet (something i wanted to avoid at all costs), as i had a band lined up that i NEEDED the VSTi for. for some reason the online activation didn't work EITHER. contacted the support again, they said they know the problem, and the workaround is, well, you guess it - offline activation.
the offline activation went online a few days later, but by that time it just was too fucking LATE.

another issue: reaper is slowing down hard when running the vsti. e.g. when inserting a new track or shifting tracks around it always takes a couple of seconds when SSD is running, as opposed to everything running fast as fuck without the vsti.

bottom line is, the kontakt player and NI in general plain fucking SUCKS, and it's definitely a SHAME as the steven slate product itself kicks major ass and is pro by any means. the fact that it's relying on NI is a huge letdown as far as i am concerned. hope steven will do something about it and maybe release a future version that's independent of all that NI crap.

I recently got in on the Komplete 5 for $399 deal. The authorization process was pretty much a nightmare.

I would much rather use a dongle (can't understand why people hate them so much).

That's not true anymore, version 3.5 of the Kontakt Player was finally released recently after being delayed countless times. Although it admittedly came much too late with the old version having that many problems, it now fixes this problem and many others. Steven had been giving out the 3.5 beta to pro tools users for months now.

NI Service Center will still tell you that all your products are up to date, though (...). You have to log in to the NI site, select SSD as the product to upgrade, and then download Kontakt Player 3.5 manually.

But, yeah, NI sucks balls big time. Even though I had no problems with activation so far, I still can't believe how buggy and unstable the full version of Kontakt was (versions 2 and 3, that is - completely useless!!!) that I had to use before Steven had his own version of Kontakt Player that came with SSD 3.0. That was much better regarding stability and now Kontakt Player 3.5 seems finally seems really workable so far. But still, because of this track record I'm very hesitant to trust these guys and I don't know why Steven went with them in the first place.

I ended up using the raw SSD samples and throwing them into Structure (so I can map things the way I want...) My new arch enemy is EastWest PLAY (yeah, I got sucked into the 2 for 1 deals.) PLAY works cool in PT8 if that's the only plugin used; if I start adding Structure, Kontact, etc., the whole session locks up. Urgh...

so wait, there's an update for the kontakt player?

does that work with the SSD3.0 player??

Yes there is. Originally it was scheduled to be hear about half a year ago (and badly needed) but better late than never, i guess?

Go to:

https://co.native-instruments.com/?id=updates

Login with the Email Adress you used for product activation / redistration. On the next page, choose "STEVEN SLATE DRUMS PLATINUM" in the "product" drop down menu and click send. It will offer you Kontakt Player 3.5.0 for WIN or MAC. AFAIK this fixes the Pro Tools problems and a bunch of oher stuff. Also, for me, it loads faster and gets rid of those annoying "hangs" when loading a project. Haven't had much time with it though.

This will NOT overwrite the old player. Instead it will just install as a new virtual instrument. So you can keep the old player for compatibilty with older sessions, etc. if you want. I actually liked that behaviour.

Why this isn't offered by Service Center, only if you login to the page, is beyond me.

I love that video.

It's funny because the first time it's like "mkay... go run service center, mkay"....

But then when you get back and this shows up:
Picture1-24.png

The first couple times I was like "mkay maybe it's just fucked?"

So I calmly restarted, tried again, re installed, tried again, re installed literally everything including the OS.

Finally I reached about the 5-6th time and it ended up:

"I ALREADY FUCKING AUTHORIZED IT YOU RETARDED PIECE OF OVERPRICED SHIT!"

Do you have to pay for Kontakt 3.5? I have it.. but now I get a message saying "Demo time over" or something..
