NI Guitar Rig - Impressive ?

My impression was that lot of possibilities was just thrown in for commercial WOW factor in GR. Some amp models are modeled decently, but some are really bad, rectifier being the worst emulation of amp.
Unusable for high gain sounds, and even if you get something right sounding on its own it starts behaving in strange and ugly ways in mix. Actually I have found demoing that almost all of software amp simulations are very hard to mix properly. As far as soft simulations go, free simanalog plugins with some cab impulses work better than all commercial plugins.

To my (average) ears (and my fingers) every single piece of amp simulation (from pod to GR) is missing something that is related to dynamic response and harmonic contend.
Muddy and harch just like used/unbiased tubes...

Well the combo of the SD 1 and the JCM 900 is not too shabby ... im gonna try setting it up with the cabs in guitar risg and see what kind of results i get....

The harmonic overtones on this are there but tis still digital sounding...
