Sorry no. After a quick google search it's actually quite hard to find out any info about it. It might be a Ukrainian painter called Michael I Kryvenko. Here's a link to a translated Ukrainian Wikipedia page.

And yes that Heavy Load cover is truly glorious.

The painting you are looking for is called "Last Journey" and was done by Vasily Grigorevich Perov.
The cover of the rerelease is one of Kryvenko's works, though.
