Nick Crow 7170 + S2.0 quick test

Really like the guitar tone a lot!!! Sick riffs too! But the drums dont blend together as well as they could. The guitars have this pro feel to them and the drums have this programmed static stale feel to em. Otherwise sweeet!! Care to share your guitar chain? And anything else you did before and after 7170?

Yeah I know, drums are to repetitive, but it was just for testing purpose. I will rewrite the drums once I start recording the hole song.
The guitar chain is pretty simple, I was really surprised with the 7170 plugin. I tried them all and to me this is the best so far.
Ibanez RG(stock V8 pickup) -> Line6 UX2 -> TSS -> 7270 -> voxengo boogex (6505 impulse)-> eq

Do you have any suggestions for the drums tonewise?

I really like this guitar tone.

I am a fellow toneport UX2 user and I can't figure out for the life of me how to use those pre-amps in my DAW with my toneport. I know how to setup my DAW with the TSS and then the amp sim and then boogex after it, but how do I go about recording my gutiar track? Could you please post screenshots of the gearbox setting or something? Everytime I turn off every single kind of sim (amp/cab/effects) in gearbox I just have this very stale guitar only track, that clips the amp sims in a really bad way. So you use one of the vocal pre-amp models or something?

Sorry for all the questions but I'd love to be able to achieve this type of tone because it sounds great. :)

just choose the 3-4 toneport input for the track, so you can record the clean signal and monitor using gearbox standalone FX's

Nice tone! got some settings for the 7170? i agree about the drums being kind'a weak but the tone does the job for me :rock:

You don't have to use the preamps from gearbox for the guitar. If your using some vst plugin like 7170 you don't even have to load gearbox in your daw.

Settings for 7170:

Mid = 0
Sweep = 9 o'clock
The other knobs are default.

ssegulja, WOW, impressive tone out of 7170.:rock:
i think it´s the best amp sim too but i like soloC and 8505 too.;)
what is that 6505 impulse?

could you share impulse and eq settings (screenshoot for example)??

Awesome guitar tone...please share all settings for the plugins you used for guitars (as already requested). Thanks! :)

Thanks for the info. :)

How would I use this plugin without opening gearbox then? Is there some way I can use my toneport direct to cubase without gearbox?

yes, in my pod for example, in outputs, i choose DRY SIGNALS.;)
i had a toneport and i think i could make the same, in control panel i think.

you record dry signal in your daw (without gearbox) and then you apply tss, 7170, what you want.

err, as far as i know, if you want to record without gearbox, then.. just don't open gearbox! aha.

open up cubase, and check your "vst connections" tab. on the inputs section, check to see you have mono ins, each one pointing to each toneport in. you should have 4. inputs 1 and 2 are unprocessed, and 3-4 are post gearbox (if it's open).

but really, if gearbox isn't open, it'll still work.

i'm an (ex) fellow UX2 user.. i got a UX8 :P

Settings for the TSS are:
gain: 2.5
tone: 6
volume: 6

Impulse was thisone.wav, I think Dandelium posted a link in a topic. I didn't use any additional eq or compressors on the rhythm guitars. Only a little bit of eq on the lead guitar in the center (boost around 2.5k) and delay. L2 for mastering.
